Professor Rodrigo Martins and Professor Elvira Fortunato are amongst the top three finalist of the European Inventor award 2016. This award will be presented on 9th June 2016 during the European Gala session at MEO ARENA, under the auspicious of President of the European Patent Office with the honorable presence of Commissionaire Moedas.
Professors Martins and Fortunato had been exploring innovative ways of using paper as a medium and as a conductor for electronic circuits, capitalizing the properties and benefits of paper as a substrate that is low cost, is easy to print, and extremely flexible to manipulate to enable data input and output. This process of creating “electronic” paper, or reinventing the usage of analog paper, had been patented by the Martins-Fortunato team.
